Glass Futures Reveals Planned Locations

The Glass Futures research project is planning to locate at twin sites at Pilkington Glass and at the University of Leeds. The considered Centres of Excellence are the mothballed line at Pilkington Watson Street Works in St Helens, and the University of Leeds new research and innovation campus in West Yorkshire. The St Helen's site would focus on hot end production, while the Leeds site will concentrate on the cold end. If the scheme goes according to plan, work will start on the two sites late 2018 and be operational by spring 2019.
