KHS Plasmax are offering "FreshSafe-PET" which, according to the company, gives high barrier protection and is suitable for premium beverages. The interior coating of PET bottles with a protective "glass layer" results in more freshness, taste, and protection for mineral water and sensitive beverages, say the firm. Applications include sensitive beverages such as juices, soft drinks, hot drinks, tea, coffee and fruit drinks, including beverages with a pH greater than 4.5. Contents are well protected and preserved, beverages have a longer shelf life, and the taste is retained for longer than in conventional PET containers, claims KHS Plasmax. Also, the company claim, because no additives are used, full recyclability of the crystal clear bottles with the FreshSafe-PET logo is guaranteed without restriction.
