Glass Centre Wins Sponsorship

The UK's National Glass Centre in Sunderland has secured its first commercial sponsorship through a deal worth £5000 with Guyson International Ltd, the manufacturer of dry blast systems for glass decoration. Guyson will provide the centre with one of its GL800 Glass Etching Systems which will be used for studio work. The centre plans to house a number of glassmaking businesses under one roof. A large open area is planned as the main focus of attraction. It will provide a space in which visitors will be able to watch handmade glass being produced. The centre will also create a number of new jobs and this could help glassmakers from the recently closed Hartley Wood Glassworks. The Centre opens to the public from 20 June 1998. (whole item)
