Glass and ceramics are the main materials used in contact with food and they are widely used as food containers (as bottles and jars), tableware (plates, cups, bowls etc.) and utensils for cooking. This paper aims to provide an indication of the main technical standards governing the sector in order to furnish an useful guide for manufacturers and users of glassware and ceramics for food use.
