A Glass Act

Storage is a key issue for Redfearn Glass. Every day, Redfearn's 96-acre Barnsley site produces around 2,200 pallets. Averaging 1,500 bottles per pallet, 3.3M bottles are created daily, making it Europe's largest glass manufacturing site. The scale of the storage problem is obvious. Redfearn and Excel have worked together since the late 1950s. In 1995, Redfearn signed a contract with Excel's Industrial sector, making it responsible for all warehousing and distribution of glassware from the end of the production line to Redfearn's customers. Details of the operation are explained in this article.
