The German 60+ age group represents a market worth more than 100M Euros/pa, according to a Meyer-Hentschel Inst presentation at Innoform's 2008 Inno-Meeting. The sector offers opportunities for easy open and reclosable flexible packaging. The Fraunhofer packaging machinery and technology application centre is developing standard test methods to measure the force needed to open peelable packaging, and the DIN standards committee is considering a possible reclosability standard. A new adhesive for multipeel films, developed by Sudpack, requires 30% less peel force and offers improved reclosability compared with earlier versions.
