[Germany] Osram - Glass Tubes For Energy-Saving Lamps

At the Osram production plant in Augsburg, Germany, up to 1.2M/glass tubes for fluorescent and energy-saving lamps come off the production line, controlled and monitored by an advanced Simatic PCS 7/WinCC system, as well as a 13 Simatic S7-400 controllers for individual plant components. The plant manufactures up to 960,000 glass tubes per day on 6 production lines. There are two kinds of furnaces used, a regenerative furnace with an output of up to 175/tpd for fluorescent lamps, and a smaller, continuously heated recuperative furnace with an output of 50/tpd. This glass is used to produce Dulux energy saving lamps. The plant has recently upgraded its process control systems to include the most advanced technology. The plant now utilizes waste heat and filtered dust as raw materials and has reduced emissions at the same time.
