Agenda Glas, AG in Gardelegen, Germany, started up Europe's newest container glassware plant in February 2010. Each year a total of 300M containers of various sizes, or 95,000/t glass are produced for the German food and beverage industry. The facility also comprises design and product development departments. The new greenfield production plant takes advantages of the most advanced technologies for energy efficiency & environmental protection. All the factory's plant equipment was planned for energy-efficient operations and uses 10% less energy than comparable production plants. Thanks to highly advanced electrostatic filters for purifying exhaust gas, the plant already meets the EU pollutant emission requirements coming into effect in 2012. The heating and hot water supply for the factory shops, production rooms and offices are all completely fed by waste heat. All plant equipment and components deployed by Siemens for the electrical power supply have been type-tested. Agenda Glas utilises a furnace with a regenerative heat recovery system supplied by Sorg. Agenda is the first glass manufacturing plant to be newly constructed in Germany and represents a capital commitment of around 50M Euros.
