German Sales Decline

German glass industry sales fell by 2.3% to 4.36BN Euros in the first half of 2013, according to the Federal Association of the Glass Industry. Domestic sales fell by 3.3% to 2.7BN/Euros, while foreign sales fell by 0.4% to 1.6BN/Euros. Employment also fell by 1.1% to 53,000 employees. Dr Johann Overath, CE of the Association of Glass Manufacturers remained confident: "The capital goods sectors, in particular flat glass, special glass and glass fibres, again increased in foreign sales, especially in non-EU countries."
