German Glassmaker Develops Coating

Wiegand Glas in Steinbach am Wald, Germany, has been using a special coating of its IS machine parts since the beginning of the year. The coating, called IS-Clean, has been developed by the glass manufacturer for highly stressed, metal parts such as neck ring holders on IS machines, and it can significantly extend the cleaning cycle of these parts, saving time and money. IS-Clean reduces the cleaning time after a job change and removes the need for time consuming sandblasting. Even stubborn grease marks can be removed with just water. The coating also means that the neck ring holders and other parts can be prepared for the next production period during the job change and can be used again immediately. Longer tool life and reduced wear, generally, are the other benefits. For more information please contact Wiegand-Glas on (Germany) tel: +49 9263 800
