Geopolymers or polysialates are a class of ceramic materials which can be made at ambient temperatures and pressures. The material is a crosslinked, inorganic polymer made from sources containing both tetrahedral aluminate and tetrahedral silicate species, under highly alkaline conditions. Such sources can be an aluminosilicate mineral, e.g. kaolinite, mullite, andalusite, smectite, bentonite or feldspar. This article describes a typical, standard method widely used in the literature for preparing a geopolymer paste.
