Furnace Rebuild Gets Underway

Thermos Ltd is investing £1.7m in a glass furnace rebuild at its Thetford plant in Norfolk. A rebuild is required once every five years as the Thermos brand fillers are manufactured from borosilicate rather than soda lime glass. The furnace usually operates continuously for 24h/day every day of the year. Builders are working around the clock in order to minimise the amount of time that the furnace will be out of action and it is planned that the operation will not take longer than 30 days.
