French Firms Buy Lead Role In Changing Uk Waste Industry

More than 15% of the UK waste industry is now in French hands following Sita's takeover of Browning Ferris Industries' European activities in November. The enlarged Sita group has the largest landfill reserves in the UK - as well as the financial muscle to develop the incineration and recycling facilities which Britain may need to comply with the proposed EC Landfill Directive.
