[France] Baby Feeding Bottles Produced By Sgd

In France, 90% of the plastic feeding bottles on the market contain Bisphenol A (BPA). In view of the anxiety raised about the long term effects of this endocrine disruptor, French group SGD, world leader in glass bottle manufacturing for the perfume, cosmetics and pharmacy industries, is re-introducing glass feeding bottles in France. Produced at its site in Mers-les-Bains in the French “Glass Valley”, these feeding bottles have optimum sanitary features for safe infant nutrition. Developed through research by SGD's Pharmacy division, "AX glass" used for babies' bottles is a highly technical product with distinctive innovative properties. Completely free of BPA and 100% recyclable, it meets all current requirements for solidity, neutrality and stability, does not react with food products and does not degrade under the effects of heat. To ensure that maximum safety levels are observed, the enamels used for decoration do not contain heavy metals. 500,000 feeding bottles ready to meet the demand The feeding bottle market represents 35 million units sold each year throughout Europe, including 6.6 million in France where the birth rate is one of the highest in Europe. SGD group is ready to meet this high demand thanks to its current production capacity of 120,000 bottles a day from its site in Mersles-Bains, which could be raised to 250,000 units a day. Furthermore, SGD has built up a stock of nearly half a million bottles to feed the immediate demands of the French market, which remains the group's primary target. In order to facilitate consumer access to this new glass feeding bottle, VGE – a subsidiary of SGD group – will be the interface for retailers in France.
