[Forthcoming Regulations] The Spirit Drinks Regulations (Sdr'S) 2009 And The Scotch Whisky Regulations (Swr'S) 2009 The Scotch Whisky Regulations 2009 (Swrs)

Due to be published late spring 2009, the SDRs will provide for the enforcement in the UK of the EC Regulation (110/2008) on spirit drinks of 15% alcohol and above. The SWRs will introduce extra protection for Scotch Whisky (a protected geographical indication under the EC Regulation) through the introduction of new categories of Scotch Whisky, requirements that Single Malt Scotch Whisky be bottled in Scotland and banning the export of Scotch Whisky unless in inert containers to prevent further maturation outside Scotland.
