Forming A Perfect Gob

The gob forming process can be optimised if the viscosity of the melt is controlled. Temperature is currently used as a substitute for knowledge of viscosity. However, changes of the melt viscosity due to non-thermal causes like the redox state, the water and SO3 contents, cannot be detected this way.
