F&N Glass Division Targets Thailand For Latest Expansion

Construction of Thailand's latest glass container production facility is scheduled for completion by October 2007. Built on a greenfield site, 60km north of Bangkok, the 280/tpd plant will become a key manufacturing base for one of South East Asia's leading glass manufacturers, one of a select few in the region that can handle the multi-location packaging requirements of multi-national clients. Thai Malaya Glass Co Ltd is the result of a joint venture agreement between the Malaysian arm of Singapore-based conglomerate Fraser & Neave Ltd and its local subsidiary company, Thai Asia Pacific Brewery Co Ltd. Total investment of the project is estimated at US$36M. Via its Malaya Glass division, F&N have a 70% stake in the new initiative, becoming the group's fifth factory.
