Float Glass Plant Planned For France

Interpane Glas Industrie AG, the Swiss-based group, recently announced that it will be investing FFr1.1bn in the construction of a float glass plant with three processing units in Thionville, in the Mosell area of France. The new plant is expected to be operational in the second half of the year 2000 and will employ 300 staff. At full capacity it is expected to produce around 220,000 tonnes of glass. Interpane is planning to invest a further FFr500m in the construction of a second line and to set up a R&D department in Thionville at a later stage. During 1998, Interpane purchased two glass manufacturing plants in Hoedt, France and is also present in South Carolina, USA. (whole item)
