Finnish Foamed Glass Facility Boosts Recycling Rates

In Finland, glass bottles eligible for a deposit have a return rate of 100% with most of the glass bottles being collected via an automated deposit system. This automated system gives a cash return or credit receipt to the customer and separates aluminium, plastic and glass. Due to a combination of this efficient deposit system combined with modern purification technology, the glass quality is excellent; also meaning a particularly low lead content. Only 1% of the total material flow consists of substances other than glass. This article gives an overview of the Finnish glass recycling market and describes how a foamed glass facility is helping boost its recycling rates.
