The Financial Assistance for Environmental Purposes Order 2006 Statutory Instrument 2006 No. 1735, was laid before Parliament on 29 June and comes into force on 31 July 2006. The Order makes provision for the funding of the Envirowise programme from the World Summit on Sustainable Development Implementation Fund. The purpose of the fund is to accelerate implementation of commitments made at the World Summit on Sustainable Development. The purpose of the Envirowise programme is to provide business with free, independent, confidential advice and support on practical ways to improve profits, minimise waste, be more resource efficient and reduce their environmental impact.
