Fibre For Military Armour

Honeywell International Inc (USA), has announced plans to invest $20M to boost production of Spectra fibre at its manufacturing facilities in the Richmond, VA area, to meet increased demand from the North American armour industry. Spectra fibre is used by armour manufacturers servicing the US military and law enforcement agencies with SAPI (small arms protective insert) plates used in the Interceptor vest. The expansion is scheduled fro completion in the second quarter of 2005. The additional production will be devoted primarily to meeting US military requirements.
