Fibre Furnace Starts At Oschatz Plant In Germany

P-D Glasseide, the glass fibre manufacturing division of the Preiss-Daimler group, is commissioning a new furnace at its plant near Oschatz in Germany. The new 45/tpd furnace replaces a 28/tpd unit and the company has taken the opportunity to install new fibre forming facilities, a new size preparation area and better drying equipment. Other equipment on its production line is being modified. Work on the new project was only allowed to start after the Leipzig city authorities were satisfied that emissions and noise from the new facilities would be within specified limits. Completion of the project has ensured the future of 370 jobs at the Oschatz site.
