The British market research institute, Market & Business Development Ltd (MBD), of Manchester, forecasts growth for glass containers, but also increased competition from plastic packaging on the UK market between 2004 and 2008. The institute assumes an overall growth rate of 4%. At the same time, plastic packaging will increase market share compared with glass in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical sectors.
