Rockware & Inex have developed a new design of inspection machine for embossed glass bottles under a 2-year exclusivity agreement. The machines are being installed at Rockware's Portland factory as part of a £4.5M investment programme. The machines are part of a major investment, which aims to improve quality and production flexibility and to demonstrate a high level of commitment by Rockware to the spirits market. Rockware has also replaced the 8-section IS machine at Portland with a 10-section double-gob forming machine which can produce both narrow neck press-blow and blow-blow containers, not previously the case. The new machine also has wider centres making it compatible with other flint glass machines at Portland and at Rockware's three other factories, meaning larger containers can be made in high volumes.
