European Brewery Numbers Increase

The EU has seen the number of breweries rise again in 2014. In its annual Beer Statistics report, trade association Brewers of Europe has found that there were around 6,500 active breweries in the EU in 2014. The number represents an 11% rise on the year previous, and double the number in 2008. "The opening of so many new breweries testifies to the enthusiasm consumers have for the diversity and quality of the product," said Pierre-Olivier Bergeron, Secretary General of Brewers of Europe.
