Environmental Report Shows Increased Waste

PPG has produced an annual report detailing its performance on environmental, health and safety issues. The report shows a 12% greater volume of total waste produced, due to higher manufacturing rates and a greater number of plants. The waste per unit of production increased by 1%. The picture for hazardous waste was better with the amount produced per unit of production falling by more than 8%. The total volume of hazardous waste material rose by 3007 tons, partly due to several glass melting furnace rebuilds.
