England Manager Urges Football Fans To Recycle

Sven-Goran Eriksson & David Miliband are urging football fans to give a red card to waste by recycling the 410M cans & bottles they will accumulate during the FIFA World Cup. The England Head Coach and the Secretary of State for the Environment gave their support to 'the BIG recycle', a Government-funded national recycling week. Launched on 5 June 2006, the campaign also received support from TV football presenter Gabby Logan, former England international Graeme Le Saux, & actor/impressionist Alistair McGowan. A key element of Recycle Now, the national recycling campaign for England, 'the BIG recycle' week saw events held across the UK to encourage fans to think green about packaging. Fans will consume around 340M cans & bottles of beer, lager or cider, up 25% on an average month, as they cheer on England from their living rooms, according to new research.
