Egypt'S First Float Plant Officially Handed Over

Under the supervision of project manager Mott MacDonald, Egypt's first float glass plant has now been officially handed over to Egyptian Glass Co (EGC). The new £70m plant was built under Pilkington licence. Located 50km north or Cairo, it has been completed on time and within budget. It will produce up to 100,000 tonnes of float glass/year for the country's building and automotive industries. The plant operates 24h/day, 365 days/year to produce clear, bronze, grey and green glass in thicknesses ranging from 2mm-12mm.
