[Egypt] Jushi Targets Glass Fibre Growth

Chinese glass fibre producer Jushi is opening a new plant in the Suez industrial zone in Egypt. Hamburg-based Helm AG, is to be its exclusive distribution partner in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, in addition to dealing with the large thermoplastic composites producers across Europe. Following the lighting of the furnace on 27 November, phase one production of an annual 80,000/tons glass fibre is scheduled to take place just before the end of 2014 at the Egyptian plant. By 2017, the total capacity of the site is scheduled to reach around 200,000/tpa. Jushi will produce a full range of products in Egypt, with the emphasis on the growing thermoplastics market in Europe, including chopped strands for PA, PBT and PP polymers and LFT rovings.
