[Egypt] Growing Demand Leads Egyptian Ampoules Maker To Invest In More Lines

European Ampoules is a recent arrival on Egypt's glassmaking scene, but is growing rapidly as pharmaceuticals sales boom in this rapidly developing country. The company plans to expand its business further by extending its plant; it has yet to enter the export market. The company was set up by Philip & George Fayex, well known technical representatives and agents in Egypt for a number of glassmaking equipment suppliers, with financial support from M Gusti of OCMI in Italy who holds a 30% stake in the company. It is based in 6th October City, itself a recent development and one of several new industrial cities that are becoming home to a growing community of manufacturing plants moving out of the crowded inner areas of Cairo. Production began in July 2004 on two lines; in October the company started its sixth line and plans to install more.
