Edo Awarded Navy Sonar Contract

EDO Corp of New York, USA, has been awarded contract options worth $7.6m by the Naval Sea System Command for additional production of SQS-53C sonar arrays for the Arleigh Burke Class of guided missile destroyer and for foreign military sales. The sonar is used for detection, classification and localisation of threat submarines. This order covers production of four ship sets of sonar arrays. These arrays include piezoelectric ceramic rings incorporated into high-power transducers, and associated array framework and cable assemblies. The work will be performed by EDO's Electro-Ceramic Products unit in Salt Lake City. (whole item)
