Edinburgh Crystal Tipped To Lift Caithness Glass Trophy

Edinburgh Crystal is one of several firms that has confirmed an interest in Caithness Glass. Receivers Deloitte have confirmed that offers for the firm were made on March 19th and discussions are now taking place with a number of interested parties, but declined to say who. John Thurso, LibDem MP for Caithness, had expressed hope that whoever buys Caithness would retain its plant in Wick but Deloitte said that this plant would close with the loss of 50 jobs. It earlier closed Caithness Glass's Oban shop with the loss of five jobs. Caithness, which last year made losses of £1M on sales of £8M, retains 100 staff at its Inveralmond plant and visitor centre near Perth. It also has 12 staff in King's Lynn.
