Diageo has officially opened the upgraded production facility at its Guinness brewery in central Dublin. The company, opened "Brewhouse No. 4" and the facility, known as the "largest stout brewery in the world" cost the company around 169M/Euros. The move marks the completion of the company's plans, announced six years ago, to consolidate its brewing footprint in Ireland. "Two hundred and fifty-five years ago, when Arthur Guinness signed the 9000-year lease at St James's Gate he did so to secure the future of Guinness," said Paul Armstrong, Diageo's supply director for brewing. "With this progressive brewery, we are securing the future of brewing in Ireland. I am very proud that St James's Gate will continue to be the home of brewing innovation for Diageo for long into the future."
