Diageo To Expand On Speyside

Diageo is to expand its Scotch whisky production capacity with a further £20M investment. It will spend £10M on Speyside where 17 of Diageo's 28 malt distilleries are situated, which will expand production by 10m litres of spirits which is more or less the capacity of the recently commissioned £40M Roseisle plant. Another £10M is going to upgrade the bio-plant facilities at Daluaine which deals with co-products from a number of local plants. Glen Ord, near Inverness will also see a £3.2M transfusion. In 2010, Scotch whisky exports rose by 10% in value to reach £3.45BN, the highest ever according to the Scotch Whisky Association.
