Development Of Refractories For The Tin Bath Bottom Of Float Glass Lines

This paper describes the history of tin bath bottom blocks and the types of corrosion observed in the years since the start-up of the float glass process, in the early 1960s. Based on this history, a new ideal refractory guaranteeing minimum corrosion and interaction with the media in the tin bath atmosphere, liquid tin, and molten glass was developed and is presented.
