Solvay Sodi soda ash plant in Devnya (Bulgaria) has opened a new dense soda ash production line with a capacity of 400,000/tpy. It was opened on 30 November 1998 by the Belgian prime minister, and the Bulgarian prime minister. In addition, a new 18,000 ton storage silo will be in operation early this year. In April 1997, Solvay acquired Sodi Devnya (Now Solvay Sodi). Together with its partners, Sisecam, and EBRD (European Bank for Construction & Development), the Solvay group holds 67% of the Solvay Sodi shares.
