[Denmark] Carlsberg Drops Glass Returnables

Danish brewer Carlsberg is changing its returnable bottle system and will start using plastic disposables instead of returnable glass. As from June 2009, Carlsberg's half-litre soft drinks and Coca-Cola will be sold in plastic disposable bottles. Later on, the company will switch from 1.5-litre returnable glass bottles to 1.5-litre plastic disposable bottles. Retail stores welcome the change as it facilitates the handling of bottles. The deposit on the bottles will remain the same. Carlsberg Danmark expects its sales to rise as a result of the move.
