Partners in Arthur Anderson have been appointed receivers at Demaglass in Doncaster and are seeking suitable buyers for the financially-strapped concern. According to a spokesman for the receivers at the Harworth plant, the company continues to trade as a going concern after it was put into administrative recievership on 22 March 2000. One Demaglass division makes glass tableware while the other proudces lighting bulbs and pharmaceutial containers. No redundancies in the total work force of around 900 people have been made. The receivers will report to creditors within three months. "Demaglass is not in liquidation and continues to trade. The situation in which the company finds itself can be attributed to a downturn in orders for licensed and retail tableware and over-capacity worldwide in the lighting industry," said the spokesman.
