WRAP's budget has been cut by 5% (£2.7M) and it is expecting further reductions after DEFRA moved to reduce its costs as part of the government's plans to slash £6.2BN from public spending. Overall, it means that WRAP's budget is now £95.9M for the year. The organisation has said that no programmes will be cut or redundancies made as a result of the reduction. Instead, WRAP is planning to achieve the spending cuts through a combination of a recruitment freeze that has been imposed across government, cuts in advertising and marketing spend and stopping "low-priority" projects. A spokesperson said: "Wrap has not been given any indication of what its budget will be in the next financial year and beyond, but clearly we can expect further reductions."
