Container glass manufacturers in Asia are using increasing amounts of recycled glass cullet in their plants, and prospects for growth are encouraging, but are restrained by the absence of a modern recycling culture such as that found in developed countries. Asian markets are yet to reach the levels of sophistication of recycling found in places like the US, where recycling rates have peaked and levelled off in recent years. This article investigates how Asia's glass makers view an increased access to cullet as a way of decreasing plant costs.
