Cullet Delivery Problem Solved

Geo Robson & Co (Conveyors) has completed an £80,000 project to improve facilities for receiving cullet at the Leeds plant of Lax & Shaw. The original cullet unloading station comprised an ourdoor ground-level hopper, which fed the batch plant crusher via a conveyor system in the basement. Foreign cullet was delivered in bulk by lorry to a storage area on another part of the site and transported to the hopper when required by a front-end loader. The labour-intensive procedure was further complicated by restricted access to the plant, which meant that cullet had to be transported along a public road, creating the risk of spillages. Geo Robson has completely eliminated the need for "double handling" and interim storage by installing a larger hopper capable of accepting a full 25-tonne lorryload of cullet.
