Crystalmaker Reports Increased Turnover

Dartington Crystal Group ltd has announced its financial results for 1997 and has recorded operating profits of over £1.5m on turnover of over £12m, representing a 12% rise on the previous year's figure. Export sales closed just short of 1996 levels. Maxwell Packe, chairman of the group, has attributed the positive results to the launch of new products such as "Designs by Dartington" and "J Marcolin" ranges and the opening of the new Barbican Glassworks. The growth is expected to continue throughout 1998. The Barbican Glassworks, located in Plymouth, is reported to be trading successfully and is expecting towelcome around 400,000 visitors annually.
