Cristalchile Unveils New Container Plant

Cristalerias de Chile (Cristalchile) was established in 1904 and is the largest producer of glass containers in Chile. Products include glass and plastic containers for drinks including wines, spirits, beers and non-alcoholic beverages, foods etc. The largest shareholder in the firm is Electro Metalurgica, a diversified industrial group whose interests are many and varied, including mining, metals, chemicals agriculture, consumer goods, and publishing. Over the years the company has expanded and in 1999 acquired its first overseas company when it took a stake in the Rayen Cura glass container plant in Argentina. Cristachile specialises in producing over 40 different forms of glass bottles and jars in flint, green, amber and light green colours. Wine bottles are 60% of the company's output.
