Over 13,000/litres of counterfeit alcohol, worth around £263,000 in lost duty and taxes has been seized by HMRC at Cairnryan, Scotland. HMRC officers searched a 40ft trailer after it had been stopped by the Scottish Police on arrival from Belfast on the ferry. The search revealed 26 pallets of illicit vodka along with a number of counterfeit vodka bottle labels. HMRC Assistant Director of Criminal Investigation, Ann-Marie Gordon said: "We are working in partnership with our colleagues in the Scottish Organised Crime Task Force and are committed to stopping this criminal activity, which costs the taxpayer around £1.2BN in unpaid revenue each year.
