Corning Opens Taiwan'S First Amlcd Glass Plant

Corning has opened the first active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) glass substrate production facility in Tainan Science-Based Industrial Park in Taiwan. This facility is an example of the commitment by Corning to be an integral supplier and an integrated participant in Taiwan's booming electronics industry," said Mr J Loose, President and CEO of Corning Inc. Through its Display Technologies business, Corning manufactures two glass substrate compositions. Corning 1737 is currently the worldwide AMLCD standard substrate and the new EAGLE 2000 glass enable AMLCD manufacturers to produce larger, thinner and higher resolution displays more affordably, while trimming panel weight by up to 35%.
