Corning: Non-Cash Charges Hit Third Quarter 2004 Financials

Non-cash accounting charges undermined Corning Inc's results for the third quarter 2004, although quarterly sales of $1.006BN were the highest since the fourth quarter 2001, the company reported on 20 October/04. The diversified technology company incurred a net loss of $2.491BN or $1.78/share, including a number of noncash special items that cut results by $2.704BN, or $1.92/share in the quarter.
