A high performance casein adhesive said to offer "exceptional levels of ice water and condensation resistance on cold wet bottles, even when exposed to crushed ice", has been launched by National Adhesives. The company says Eticol 706 is "not only high performance but also heavy metal and synthetic polymer free." It is claimed to perform consistently at machine speeds of up to 70,000/bph, to be effective even on "difficult" low weight or metallised labels, and to be applicable by all types of rotary wet glue labellers to dry, wet, cold or warm bottles. It is also said to be cleaner running than traditional casein adhesives, enabling equipment maintenance to be undertaken with warm water. See: www.nationalstarch.com
