Cooking Up A Future

The first Chinese rolled glass production line was built in 1965 at Hunan Zhuzhou Glass Factory and had annual production capacity of around 12,500 tonnes. By the end of 1990, there were more than 10 such facilities with total output around 13,000 tonnes (2.8% of total output of flat glass in the same year). This article assesses the current state of play and the likely demand over the next few years. Current manufacturers, together with production details for each facility is given.
