Consumers Prefer Glass: Survey

Consumers in the USA and Europe prefer glass bottles for spirits and beer but are happy to take still water in plastic bottles. For carbonated drinks, preferences are evenly divided between aluminium cans, plastic bottles and glass bottles. These are the results of a survey by Dragon Rouge, a brand design company. In the USA, 98% of respondents preferred glass for spirits; 96% preferred glass for beer; and 22% preferred glass for carbonated drinks. Jonathan Asher, president of Dragon Rouge, said: "Despite efforts to market spirits and beer in plastic bottles, it has yet to catch on. Plastic cannot overcome negative perceptions of taste and not staying cold." (whole item)
