Saint-Gobain's new float glass manufacturing facility planned for Eggborough in North Yorkshire is to be built by Taylor Woodrow Construction in a contract worth £10.4m. Work on the 86-acre site began in November last year and phased completion is due over a 53-week programme. Saint-Gobain will be procuring and managing the installation of the process equipment, valued at approximately £50m, with Taylor Woodrow closely involved as principal contractor. When completed the plant, which will extend to 0.5km, will have the capacity to produce around 185,000 tonnes float glass/year. (whole item)
